Ponies Rule!
Yay! It looks like my SF pony story has found a good, loving , wholesome home. I'm so glad. I like this story a lot, but suspected it might be a hard sell, what with there being ponies in it and its voice being a bit unusual, but it looks like the right editor has come along at the right time, and Bob's your uncle. So it goes in this game.
More details when it's all professionally acceptable to announce the buyer.
Yay!

Congrats, Gitte.
Always good to make a slae, isn't it?
Steve
Now you've got me wondering when it's 'professionally acceptable' to announce a sale. I've always presumed it's ok once it has been accepted, unless they've otherwise specified.
Hmmm.
Steve
Now I'm thinking of that closing line of Black Beauty:
My troubles are all over, and I am at home; and often before I am quite awake, I fancy I am still in the orchard at Birtwick, standing with my old friends under the apple-trees.
I hope your ponies will enjoy their time with the other stories in the anthology.
Thank you, Steve. Yep. Sales. Are. Good. Very. Good.
I think my 'professionally acceptable' thing is probably a personal just-want-to-be-entirely-sure feeling before I make announcements, either a straight out 'yes, it's ok to announce this' from the publisher or editor, or correspondence that makes me feel confident it's going to happen. Like the emails waiting when I got home today...
Ah, how I love that line, Catherine. It makes me weep every time. I've read that book so many times, and cried and cried, and now I feel like reading it again. And now that I think about it, my SF pony is black and glossy... But don't go thinking it's a cute story. It is. But it isn't!
The acceptance isn't for an anthology this time, which made me realise that it's been a long time since I've had a story in a magazine.I'll post about it now.
