The funny thing is, I almost didn't send this story to this particular anthology. It's been rejected many many times and even though it fit the theme, I wasn't sure it was dark enough. I sent it off Sunday, so when I saw the email this morning, I thought it was one of those quickie rejections that show you're completely off target, but nope, it was the exact opposite. Apparently I jumped the short-list and went straight to 'acceptance', which makes a nice change from 'you made it to the short-list but...'
